
Air Separation, Centrifual Compressor with a 1,600 liter (420-gal) oil reservoir
Varnish problems reported:
Visible varnish observed on the tilt pad bearings and gear system
Bearing temperatures fluctuated between 120- 140C
Oil showed signs of rapid degradation, as oil lasted between 4-6 months.

CASE STUDY CONCLUSIONS
MPC values were brought to normal levels in 2 weeks.
A year after ESP installation, journal bearing inspections revealed that the restored oil had largely removed the deposits.
Bearing temperatures are now maintained at a normal level of 90oC.
ESP has been installed for 9-years and the air compressor continues to operate successfully
